An initiative to Reduce Stigma and Create Awareness on Help Available on Mental Health!

Roar 4 Change’s Laughing at Life Division partners with Irving Police to reduce stigma and to create an awareness among Asian population on Mental Health. A workshop was organized with the members of Mental Health Response Team, Peer Support Team and Command Staff Members of Irving Police to discuss the mental health initiatives for our South Asian Community.
Mr. Baljit Singh, Program Director of Roar 4 Change said, “It was a great opportunity to meet the Mental Health Response team, Peer Support Team and Command Staff members of Irving Police. The workshop gave us insights on the challenges faced by the Chief Spivey’s team while serving to community. We are now going to develop an action plan to address the challenges that came out during our workshop.”
Two major areas came out of workshop. One was to reduce to the stigma on mental health. The second item that has been identified is educating the society on the help available on mental health. Laughing at Life team will take the lead to finalize the action plan and work closely with the various institutions and authorities.
Chief Spivey said added further, “We look forward to support the Roar 4 Change and the South Asian Community to bring solutions that are greater than the challenge of depression in our society.”
