Interaction with Irving Police Chief Jeff Spivey

November 12th, 2019

We all need to see the upcoming mental health challenges and focus on solutions. The suicide rates have been on rise and as per the findings of Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Their research found that the suicide rate increased by more than 30% than half of states from 1999 to 2016. In some states, that increase was as high as 58%. The American Foundation of Suicide Prevention estimates that there were 1.4 million suicide attempts in 2017. That translates to a suicide attempt every 23 seconds.

The South Asian community is also witnessing the same with the population resident in the state. The recent incident of Mr. Devinder Singh Benipal of Dawson Truck Auto Parts in Irving, Texas has brought chills to the community.

Roar 4 Change together with the Irving Police is hosting an interaction with the Police Chief Jeff Spivey. The Chief Spivey will interact with the community on the issues and give guidance on the Mental Health challenges. Chief Spivey said, “We look forward to interact with the community on this important challenge of Mental Health. We are working with Roar 4 Change to educate the community on Mental Health. I look forward personally to interact with the community on this important issue.”
